For the Professional Stage a minimum of two papers must be taken at the first attempt and students are expected to be successful at these papers to enable their training to continue.

The Professional Stage papers are:

  Accounting
  Auditing and assurance
  Business finance (potential exemption available)
  Financial reporting
  Business management (potential exemption available)
  Taxation

The remaining four papers are then usually taken at one sitting. Five weeks study leave is given for the first two papers and ten weeks for the remaining four. Prior to commencing the Advanced Stage, students also cover the devolved assessment in Law.
